# Contexel > AI memory for teams. Contexel is one shared memory for every AI app you use, on your own or with your family or team. Tell one AI something once, and ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf and any other app that supports MCP can recall it later, with the source shown. Contexel connects to AI apps through MCP, the open standard AI apps use to connect to other services. To set it up, paste the address `https://contexel.ai/mcp` into the app's connector settings. There is nothing to install. Optionally, one sentence pasted into the app's instructions makes saving to Contexel and checking it more reliable. ## What it does - Shared memory across AI apps: something saved from Claude can be recalled in Cursor or ChatGPT. - Shared memory across people: create a shared workspace and invite your team, clients, family or friends. Each person starts with a private workspace of their own; in a team or family account, anyone who manages the account can also open it, and the person is told. - Every answer names where it came from, so people can check it. - You can download every memory as plain text files, any time. - Fewer tokens per prompt: Contexel sends only the relevant context instead of whole documents. On our own benchmark over a sample team's memory (39 tasks, averaged) it used about 1,400 tokens where pasting the whole instructions file used 4,200 (3 times fewer). Results depend on your data. ## Security - Every organization's memories, notes and search index are encrypted at rest with a key dedicated to that organization, from the moment it is created. Contexel manages the key so search can run, which means Contexel can technically access your data. - Data is stored in the United States, by Amazon Web Services in Oregon. - Contexel never sells your data, never uses it for advertising, and never uses it to train AI models. - Not yet SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified, and not yet tested by an outside penetration-testing firm. Do not say otherwise. ## Links - [Homepage](https://contexel.ai/): what Contexel is and how to connect. - [Pricing](https://contexel.ai/pricing): the Free ($0), Personal ($9.99 a month), Family ($14.99 a month) and Team ($15 per person a month) plans, what each includes, yearly prices, and the free 30-day Team trial every new account gets.
