Connect Gemini CLI in a few minutes
- Sign in to Contexel. Your private workspace is ready right away.
- Add Contexel to Gemini CLI. In your terminal, run
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user contexel https://contexel.ai/mcp - Start Gemini CLI and run
/mcp auth contexel. It opens your browser to sign in.
Optional: make it more reliable. Add this line to ~/.gemini/GEMINI.md: When I ask you to remember something, also save it to Contexel. Before you answer a question about me, my family, or my work, check Contexel.
Then just talk to it
Once those steps are done, there's nothing new to learn. Ask your AI to remember something, and ask about it later from any connected app.

Should I stop using GEMINI.md?
No. Keep it for instructions about one project. Use Contexel for what your team knows across projects and apps.
Does my code get uploaded?
No. Contexel only stores what you or your AI choose to save as a memory. It does not read your files.
Who can see what I save?
You, and the people you share with. In a team or family account, anyone who manages the account can also open your private workspace, and you are told. Contexel holds the encryption key, so it could read it too.
Using other AI apps too?
It's the same memory everywhere. Connect as many apps as you like.
