The short answerCreate a Team workspace, a shared place for your team's memories, and invite your teammates. Everyone connects the AI app they already use. Say "remember this for the team" in any of them and every teammate's AI can find it. Everything else stays in your private workspace.
What goes wrong without it
One engineer tells Claude Code how deploys work. A designer explains the naming rules to ChatGPT. A new hire's Cursor knows none of it. Every app keeps its own notes, every person repeats themselves, and the team's decisions live in chat histories nobody can search.
What teams keep in it
- Decisions."We ship on Thursdays, never on Fridays." "Refunds over $500 need a manager." Made once, known everywhere.
- House rules. How you name things, which tools you use, what a good pull request looks like, how you talk to customers.
- Lessons learned. The outage that taught you something, the vendor to avoid, the shortcut that works.
- Context a new hire needs.Who owns what, where things live, why a system is the way it is.
How it works for a team
- Sign in to Contexel and create a Team workspace. Add a one-line description, like "Acme support team: rules and decisions".
- Invite your teammates by email. Everyone you invite can see the team workspace and add to it. The owner decides whether teammates can add to it or only look things up.
- Each person connects the app they use: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or GitHub Copilot. A few minutes each.
- Say "remember this for the team" in any of them. Ask "how do we handle refunds?" in any other, and the answer comes from the team's memory.
Already have a CLAUDE.md or a team handbook? Paste it into the console and Contexel splits it into one memory per section. See instructions files vs a shared memory for what to keep where.
You can check it
Open the console to search the team's memory, see recent changes and who made them, fix a detail, or download everything as plain text. Each memory keeps who saved it, so a wrong one is easy to trace and fix in one place.
Questions
Does everyone need the same AI app?
No. Each teammate connects whichever app they use. ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and Claude Code all read the same team memory.
Who can see the team memory?
Everyone you invite to the team. Each person also has a private workspace, and nothing goes to the team memory unless someone says it is for the team.
