One memory for ChatGPT and Claude.
Use both? Then you've told each of them the same things twice. Here's how to make them share one memory.
The short answerChatGPT and Claude can't read each other's memory, so connect both to the same outside one. With Contexel you add one connector to each app, and whatever you save in one is there in the other.
Why they don't share today
Each app's memory is stored inside that company's service and tied to your account there. There is no setting in ChatGPT that reads Claude's memory, or the other way around. What both apps do support is connectors: a standard way (called MCP) to plug an outside service into the chat. A memory connected to both apps is one memory.

Do I need a paid ChatGPT or Claude plan?
It depends on each app's plan, and the apps change that from time to time. The Claude and ChatGPT guides have the current steps.
Does it work in Cursor and Claude Code too?
Yes. The same memory works in Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and any other AI app that can add a connector.
Who can see what I save?
You, and the people you share with. In a team or family account, anyone who manages the account can also open your private workspace, and you are told. Contexel holds the encryption key, so it could read it too.
