Move your ChatGPT memory to Claude.
ChatGPT has learned a lot about you. Here's how to take it with you, without starting over, and without locking it into the next app either.
The short answerAsk ChatGPT to list everything it remembers about you, review the list, and save it somewhere Claude can read. Contexel's console gives you the exact request to send, splits ChatGPT's answer into one memory per line for you to review, and saves what you keep, so Claude, ChatGPT and your other AI apps all have it.
Step by step
- Sign in to Contexel.
- In the console, under Add a memory, open Bring what ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini already knows about you and copy the request.
- Send the request in a new ChatGPT chat. It answers with one fact per line.
- Paste that answer back into the console and choose Review.
- Uncheck anything you don't want kept. Nothing is saved until you press Save.
Then connect Claude so it can read what you saved. Ask it something that depends on it, and it looks the answer up in Contexel.
Why not just paste it into Claude?
You can paste it into Claude's own memory. Then it lives in Claude, and you will do this again next time you switch. Kept in Contexel, it stays in one place that every app you connect can read: switch apps, or use several, and nothing needs moving again. You can also download every memory as plain text files, any time.
What to keep and what to drop
Memories pile up. While you review, drop anything out of date, anything too personal to keep, and anything you told the AI once and never needed again. Keep people, preferences, ongoing plans and the things you'd otherwise explain again.
Questions
Does this work from Claude or Gemini too?
Yes. The same request works in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Send it in whichever app knows you best.
Does ChatGPT keep its own memory?
Yes. Nothing changes in ChatGPT. You can keep using both apps, and both can read Contexel once connected.
Who can see what I save?
You, and the people you share with. In a team or family account, anyone who manages the account can also open your private workspace, and you are told. Contexel holds the encryption key, so it could read it too.
